Aledo XC Brings Home Big Finishes at HOKA McNeil, Prowl in the Park & Woodbridge!
The Ladycats & Bearcats competed across three meets this week, with the JV teams racing at Prowl in the Park in Benbrook on Thursday, Varsity traveling to Round Rock for the HOKA McNeil Invitational on Saturday, and Tyler Connelly representing Aledo at the Woodbridge Classic in California!
At the HOKA McNeil Invitational, both Varsity teams competed against a deep field of teams from across the state on the same course that will host the UIL State Championships later this season. The Varsity Boys turned in another strong performance, finishing 6th overall, while the Varsity Girls placed 15th. Noah Lay led the Bearcats with a time of 16:31.56, while Holland Gladchuk led the Ladycats in 19:06.82.
The JV squad had a big day at Prowl in the Park. The girls brought home the team title with a 1st-place finish in the Varsity Division, the boys finished 2nd in the Varsity Division, and the JV Boys placed 3rd. Brody Bruno led the way with an individual win, taking 1st place in 17:01.97. Kendall Bricker finished 3rd in 22:08.19, while Jayden Smith placed 4th in 20:47.92. The Ladycats also packed four runners into the top eight, with Lily Elgin finishing 5th, Gianna Kenneally 6th, and Hanalei Crawford 8th.
Meanwhile, Aledo’s own Tyler Connelly traveled to California to compete in the Woodbridge Classic, where he turned in an outstanding performance against elite competition. Tyler finished 12th overall with a blazing time of 14:01!

Aledo Cross Country will take a break from competition this week before returning to action next week. The JV teams will travel to Decatur for the Decatur Reunion Run on Thursday, Oct. 1, followed by the Varsity teams making the trip to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Chile Pepper XC Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3!
