The Aledo swim team competed at the UIL Regional 2-5A Swimming Championships in Mansfield on February 3rd and 4th. As a team, the Aledo girls swim team finished in 7th place and the boys’ team placed 18th.
The top two advance to the UIL State Swimming and Diving Championships in Austin at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center on February 17 and 18. The Aledo girls’ team advanced two individual swimmers and one relay to the state championships.
Hannah Farmer was the regional champion in the girls 100 yard backstroke and finished 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle. Hannah was the 2nd leg of the state qualifying 200 yard medley relay.
Aspen Shelton qualified for state in the girls 100 yard backstroke finishing 2nd and was the first leg of the qualifying relay team. Aspen also placed 3rd in the 100 yard freestyle.
CJ Pfeil and Hanah Terrell make up the last two legs of the state qualifying relay. Terrell and Pfeil also competed in the 200 yard IM coming in 15th and 16th. CJ finished 10th in the 100 yard butterfly.
The relay team of Shelton, Terrell, Pfeil and Farmer placed 6th in the 200 yard freestyle relay. The boys relay team of Quinn Davis, Hunter Russo, Conner Dorsett and Elijah Sohn finished 10th in the 400 yard freestyle and 15th in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
