The Aledo varsity tennis team opened district play with a decisive win against a strong Northwest Eaton team. The 1-0 district start moves the overall AHS team tennis record to 5-1 on the season.

Aledo took an early 4-3 lead posting wins in doubles from the pairings of Lance McClure/Miles Grubbs (8-2), Alec Meendsen/Jared Kelm (8-2) and James Young/Payton Neeley (8-2), and the fourth victory coming from the girls’ doubles team of Priscilla Schimming/Allison Dale (8-4). In close matches the pairings of Erin Davis/Olivia Key (3-8) and Carly Siddons/Tristyn Fambrough (5-8) lost to Eaton. The mixed doubles pairing of Concetta Ogden/Jack Mayer (1-8) also fell to Eaton.

Adding 10 wins to the team total from singles matches, the boy’s swept Eaton with 6 wins from, Meendsen (6-1, 6-1), McClure (6-0, 6-0), Grubbs (6-0, 6-1), Young (6-0, 6-2), Kelm (6-1, 6-1) and Neeley (6-0, 7-5). In two additional matches, Jack Mayer (1-8) and Zach Leeper (1-8) lost to Eaton.

Posting wins in 4 girls’ singles matches were Priscilla Schimming (6-2, 6-2), Tristyn Fambrough (4-6, 6-2, 10-3), Carly Siddons (6-4, 6-1) and Concetta Ogden (6-2, 6-3). Falling to Eaton were Erin Davis (1-6, 1-6) and Olivia Key (4-6, 1-6). In two additional girls’ singles matches Allison Dale (4-8) and Allie Farmer (4-8) also posted losses to Eaton.

AHS will host Brewer at 4 PM on Tuesday September 5th for their second district match.
