ALEDO – The Aledo baseball and softball programs celebrated their new scoreboards, courtesy of Jerry’s Chevrolet, at the start of the Durant Baseball Classic Tournament Thursday.

The scoreboards were given to the school by the Durant auto group in 2014, but were unable to be installed for nearly 12 months due to weather complications.

Installation of the new boards took 10-12 days per board, including the removal of the boards that were malfunctioning and the installation of the new boards from Spectrum.

The original boards were installed when the fields were built in 2007, and began to fade as well as malfunction.

The new boards were installed just in time for the 2016 season.

“Jerry Chevrolet was very understanding,” Tim Buchanan, Aledo High Shool Athletic Director, said.

The boards cost in the ballpark of $70,000 and are a meant to last.

“This part of the AD job is a lot of fun,”Buchanan said, “going out there and trying to get stuff for our kids.”
