AHS senior Cole Stewart is the Division 1 – 220-lb. – 2016 State Powerlifting Champion.

Last Saturday, April 2, in Abilene, Texas, Cole competed in the Division 1 – 220 lb. weight Class. Competitors compete on three lefts: Squat, Bench and Dead Lift.

Cole squatted 655 lbs. and benched 390 lbs. He was in sixth place going into the last lift where he dead-lifted 640 lbs. for a total of 1,685 lbs. on three lifts, and clinched the State Championship.

All of his lifts at the State meet were also personal bests. Coach Lee Bishop said, “He was amazing!” Last year, he finished fifth in the State.
