The track teams traveled to Lubbock this past week and competed very well! The girls team placed 3rd overall in the meet with only 8 competitors. Sophomore Alaina Touchet placed 9th in shot put, while Junior Erin Weiss placed in both throwing events. Erin was 9th in discus and 12th in Shot put. The Sprint Relay team brought home the Bronze medal, just 1 place away from going to State! The relay team consisted of Sophomores Ellie Reese and Tysley Valencia, Senior Krissy Johnson, and Junior Kia Jordan. (Senior Courtney McMillan and Freshman Lydia Lawrence were the alternates for the relay.) Top finishers, and STATE qualifiers, include Junior Mackenzie Lyon (2nd) and Freshman Sierra White (1st), both in the Pole vault, and Junior Kia Jordan who won in the 100m dash. Sierra battled a high ankle sprain from the Area meet to win with a jump of 11’ 3”. Mackenzie and Kia are both returning to the State Meet after successfully representing Aledo there last season. Congratulations to all of these ladies for a successful track season!!

Sierra and Mackenzie will compete at State on Thursday, May 12th, and Kia will run Friday, May 13th in Austin.
