The Aledo Varsity tennis team traveled to Mansfield to open the 2018 fall team tennis schedule in a dual match with 7-6A Lake Ridge High School.  Aledo returns 10 starters from last year’s regional semi-finalist team.  The Bearcats got off to a fast start in doubles taking a 5-2 lead, and Aledo never looked back posting a strong showing in singles to finish the match with a final score 15-4.  Aledo will continue pre-district match-ups with 6A schools by traveling to Southlake Carroll High School next week.

Aledo took two of the three boys’ doubles matches with wins from Lance McClure/Miles Grubbs (8-0) and James Young/Payton Neeley (8-1).  The pairing of John Llewellyn/Matt Coburn (8-9(11)) lost to Lake Ridge in a very close match. The doubles teams of Priscilla Schimming/Erin Davis (8-4) and Katie Siddons/Tristyn Fambrough (8-5) posted wins in girls’ doubles, with Olivia Key/Carly Siddons (6-8) dropping their match to Lake Ridge.  Aledo also took the mixed doubles match as Concetta Ogden/Wade Williams (8-3) defeated the Lake Ridge pairing.  Taryn Fambrough/Cambell Charrier (8-6) posted a win in an additional girl’s doubles match.

In the boys’ singles matches Aledo’s McClure (8-1), Grubbs (8-0), Young (6-2, 6-2), Neeley (8-0) and Jax Joiner (8-4) – the boys # 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 respectively came away with wins in their singles matches.  Llewellyn (6-8) fell to Lake Ridge.  In additional boys’ singles matches Williams (9-8(4)) posted a win and  Matt Coburn (3-8) lost to Lake Ridge. Posting wins in girls’ singles from Aledo were Schimming (8-0), Davis (8-1), C. Siddons (8-3), K. Siddons (8-2) and Ogden (8-3) – the girls’ #2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 respectively.  Falling in girls’ singles from Aledo was Key (2-8). In additional girls’ singles matches Fambrough (8-2) posted a win against Lake Ridge, and Cambell Charrier lost (5-8).

AHS will host Eaton High School and Ennis High School on Tuesday August 14th in their first home non-district matches.
