After two rainouts, the Aledo High School Varsity Tennis team continued pre-season matches this week competing in a dual match with 17-5A District Champion Ennis High School.
Aledo dominated doubles play winning 5 of 7 matches to take an early 5-2 lead. Posting victories in doubles were the pairings of Priscilla Schimming/Erin Davis (6-1, 6-1), Olivia Key/Carly Siddons (6-4, 6-1), Concetta Ogden/Katie Siddons (6-0, 6-0), Lance McClure/Miles Grubbs (6-4, 6-1), and Tristyn Fambrough/Wade Williams (6-3, 6-3). James Young/Payton Neeley (6-7(9), 6-7(4)) and John Llewellyn/Matt Coburn (4-6, 3-6) lost to Ennis in close sets.
The 12-7 victory was sealed with the girls taking 6 of 6 singles matches from Ennis. Posting victories for the girls were Schimming (6-2, 6-0), Key (6-1, 6-0), Davis (6-1, 6-1), C. Siddons (6-1, 6-4), K. Siddons (6-1, 6-0) and Ogden (6-1, 6-2). Posting wins in additional matches were Fambrough (8-3), Maddie Farmer (8-2), Allie Farmer (8-3) and Cambell Charrier (8-2). Posting a win in boys’ singles was Grubbs (6-2, 6-1), with Ennis winning matches from McClure (3-6, 4-6), Young (5-7, 0-6), Neeley (1-6, 2-6), Llewellyn (2-6, 0-6) and Coburn (2-6, 2-6). In an additional boys’ match, Williams lost to Ennis (4-8).
Aledo improves their pre-season record to 2-0 overall, and they will face Timber Creek High School on Thursday August 16th at 4 pm at Aledo High School.
