Aledo Tennis continues winning ways

The Aledo High School Varsity Tennis team continued their pre-season matches this week competing against 6A schools Keller Timber Creek and Weatherford.
In the dual match with Timber Creek (2017 District 3-6A 4th place), Aledo clinched the victory (16-3) with strong singles play. The team took 11 of 12 singles matches from Timber Creek.

Setting the pace with wins in doubles were the pairings of Lance McClure/Miles Grubbs, James Young/John Llewellyn, Priscilla Schimming/Erin Davis, Olivia Key/Carly Siddons, and Katie Siddons/Concetta Ogden. The pairings of Matt Coburn/Jax Joiner and Tristyn Fambrough/Wade Williams lost their doubles match to Timber Creek.

Posting wins in singles were McClure (6-3, 6-1), Grubbs (6-3, 6-2), Young (3-6, 6-4, 10-3), Coburn (7-5, 7-5), and Joiner (6-4, 6-3) for the boys, with a loss from Llewellyn (3-6, 4-6). Posting wins for the girls were Schimming (6-0, 6-1), Key (6-2, 6-3), Davis (6-1, 6-1), C. Siddons (6-2, 6-1), K. Siddons (6-3, 6-3) and Ogden (6-1, 6-2). In additional singles matches Williams (7-9) and Cambell Charrier (6-8) lost to Timber Creek.

Aledo faced Weatherford High School Tuesday in a dual match and rolled to a match victory (18-1). Taking wins in doubles were the pairings of Young/Kade Robinson, Payton Neeley/Llewellyn, Joiner/Williams, Key/C. Siddons, K.Siddons/Ogden, Maddie Farmer/Allie Farmer and Fambrough/Coburn.
Once again Aledo took 11 of 12 singles matches to secure the win. Posting wins in singles were Young (6-0, 6-0), Robinson (6-4, 6-2), Llewellyn (6-1, 6-3), Coburn (6-2, 6-3), Joiner (6-3, 6-2), Key (6-0, 6-0), K. Siddons (6-0, 6-0), Ogden (6-0, 6-0), Fambrough (6-0, 6-2), M. Farmer (6-0, 6-0) and A. Farmer (6-0, 6-0). Neeley (2-6, 6-7(5))lost to Weatherford in a close match.

Aledo improves their pre-season record to 4-0 overall, and they will play in the Abilene ISD tournament August 24th -25th.
