Cody Bradford had a busy spring for the Aledo athletic program. In baseball, he helped the Bearcats baseball team reach the second round of the Class 5A playoffs as one of the top pitchers around. In track, he qualified for the 5A Region I Meet in the high jump.

And he found plenty of time to study, being named academic all-state in both sports by the Texas High School Coaches Association.

He is one of 18 area senior athletes honored from spring sports by the THSCA. Also, the Texas Girls Coaches Association honored three athletes.

Aledo led the honors with 11 players recognized. Among them are seven baseball players, including Bradford on the Elite Team, Matthew McCartney, Tucker Mauser and Timothy Ruffin in the First Team, Peyton Berkley and Jacob Ashkinos on the Second Team, and Carter Windes as Honorable Mention.

Aledo softball players Kadyn Kirkpatrick and Hallie Smith are Honorable Mentions. Joining Bradford (again Elite) from Bearcats track are Cameron Bean on the First Team and Second-Team pick James McQuade.

Smith was also named to the TGCA Class 5A Academic All-State Team. Peaster's Sarah Maynard is on the 3A Team for track, and Weatherford softball player Taylor Pool is on the 6A Team.

Weatherford had seven athletes honored by the THSCA. Baseball had Jackson Funderburk, Second Team, and Honorable Mentions Spencer Hynes and Michael Nowak. Boys tennis had Lane Guest and girls tennis had Sarah Schwartz on the First Team, while girls tennis players Gabrielle De Leon and Kara Larvin are on the Second Team.
