Cold and rainy weather almost stopped the Aledo RacquetCats this past Tuesday night, October 26, from playing in the bi-district playoff match scheduled to be at home in Aledo. Luckily they were able to play at the SMU indoor courts and beat the Grapevine Mustangs 10-3 and move on to the Area playoffs.
Aledo started off strong taking the lead 5-2 after boys’ and girls’ doubles and mixed doubles. In girls’ doubles posting wins were the teams of Katie Siddons/Olivia Key (6-4)(6-0), Georgia Posey/Maddie Farmer (6-2)(6-1) and Cambell Charrier/ Allie Farmer (6-0)(6-0). The boys’ doubles only came away with one win with Zane Martin/Scott Mason (6-3)(6-7)9 (10-7). The mixed doubles team of Ian Leslie/Lyla Edwards won in a super tiebreaker (6-4)(3-6)10-7.
The RacquetCats kept up the momentum in singles play posting wins from boy’s line 1 Jax Joiner (6-4)(2-6)11-9 and line 2 Hogan Posey (6-4)(6-1). The girl’s singles were able to get four matches in where they all had winning scores with line 1 Katie Siddons (6-1)(6-0), line 2 Olivia Key (6-2)(6-4), line 3 Maddie Farmer (6-1)(6-1) and line 4 Cambell Charrier (6-3)(6-0).
Aledo will now take on the winner of Burleson and Fort Worth Northside on Friday, October 30 for the Area playoffs with a time and location
